New to the State Health Plan

Benefits coverage

View the Insurance Summary and Insurance Benefits Guide to learn about your health coverage and additional benefits.

Prescriptions

Prescription drugs are a major benefit to you and a major part of the cost of our self-insured health plan. Prescription drugs are covered only at network pharmacies. After your initial enrollment, you will receive two identification cards from Express Scripts. If you have not created an account, you’ll be prompted to create one the first time you access your pharmacy benefits through My Health Toolkit. You can also access your digital identification card through the Express Scripts mobile app.

Dental

Taking care of your teeth isn't just about having a nice smile. Recent research has found several links between oral health and overall health. So, good oral hygiene should be a family affair. Learn more about dental benefits or find a dentist to schedule your next appointment.

Vision

After your initial enrollment, you will receive two identification cards from EyeMed®. You can also access your digital identification card through the EyeMed mobile app. If you need to order a replacement card, visit www.EyeMed.com or call EyeMed at 877.735.9314.

Coordination of benefits

All State Health Plan and dental benefits are subject to coordination of benefits, a process which is used to make sure a person covered by more than one insurance plan will not be reimbursed more than once for the same expenses. As part of coordination of benefits process, BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina needs information about possible other health or dental coverage, including Medicare, to process your claims correctly. To update your insurance information, log in to your My Health Toolkit account or complete the other coverage questionnaire
